Andrea Bendewald is a professional actress, spiritual advisor and sought-after acting coach known for her New York backbone and sharp wit,
Here is a brief history of who I am, what I do and why we should work together. I graduated from the the acclaimed Drama Department at LaGuardia High School of the Arts in New York City, and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre from Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio. I have been a professional actress for the past twenty years, I have appeared in over thirty television shows and films, including such favorites as ENTOURAGE, CSI MIAMI, WITHOUT A TRACE, GOOD LUCK CHARLIE, ELLEN, SEINFELD, FRIENDS, SUDDENLY SUSAN and THREE AND A HALF MEN. I was nominated for an Ovation Award for my performance in GIRLS TALK, which premiered in LA at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and was selected to perform my one-woman show, ABOVE AND BEYOND, at HBO’s Aspen Comedy Festival.
When I moved to LA to pursue my acting career, I was introduced to a spiritual practice called Circling. During these circles, sitting under the full moon with kindred spirits and a talking stick, I discovered who I was, where I was, and what I was doing. This circle practice had a profound affect on my self-awareness and as a result - my acting career and personal life flourished. In 2004, I answered a call to lead my own circles and founded The Art Of Circling. I became a Way of Council Facilitator, certified through the Ojai Foundation in Ojai, California and began leading Way of Council circles to elementary schools, professional organizations and individuals for personal enlightenment. Hundreds of people, from all walks of life, have found their way to my circles and many have experienced radical transformations in both their personal and business lives. Circling has been proven to benefit health and change lives. People thrive when they circle. They blossom when they share their stories and they begin to create the world they’ve been dreaming of. I have turned my extraordinary love for circling into a way of life, changing the world, one circle at a time.
In 2010, some actor friends asked me to work on their auditions with them. Instinctually, I applied the self-awareness techniques from my circle method to our coaching sessions. They loved the process, they were booking jobs, they told their friends, and pretty soon I had a thriving job as an acting coach! Starting in January of 2016, I will be on the faculty of the UCLA Professional Program in Acting for the Camera. Navigating the life of a professional actor can be challenging and I try as hard as I can to help make it easier and more fulfilling.
I am also a Founding Parent of the Larchmont Charter School whose mission is to provide a socio-economically, culturally and racially diverse community of students with an exceptional public education.
I reside in the heart of Los Angeles with my husband, actor/writer/director Mitch Rouse and our two children.
